Role Purpose
At NBCUniversal, digital accessibility isn’t just a checkbox on a task sheet- we endeavor to bake it into our products while creating experiences that delight our customers and employees. In this role, you’ll partner with multiple Product Owners across the organization as an advocate for the creation of inclusive experiences. You’ll also work closely with Design and Development Teams to assess existing digital properties and identify opportunities for feature and functionality improvements. The Accessibility Director will utilize clearly defined standards and procedures for inspecting and evaluating the accessibility and usability of company products.

Responsibilities:

Collaborates with cross-functional teams to produce product and technical requirements

Maintain a working knowledge of established guidelines, including Section 508, WCAG 2.1, VPAT creation and ADA
Hands-on consultation with product teams, embedding accessibility best practices and user experience solutions in the Agile development process

Reviews and verifies requirements and design specifications for validity in overall product design, with an emphasis towards product testability and verification
Participates in design, code and functional product reviews
Works with other Product teams to identify and document bugs or defects
Assists in providing accessibility subject matter guidance and mentorship for other Accessibility team members
Able to develop, coordinate and run web and mobile accessibility training sessions for mixed audiences, ranging from Designers to Vice Presidents
Provides leadership and consultation with regards to accessibility best practices, procedures and techniques
Supports trials of new infrastructure designs/services
Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent
Background in successful product development, working with technical and business teams in refining and delivering product vision
5+ years’ experience with assistive technologies like JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack, ZoomText, Dragon Naturally Speaking, switch devices
Enterprise bug tracking software experience- JIRA
Experience with accessibility standards and regulations like WCAG 2.0, Section 508, CVAA
Experience leading, planning, executing and coordinating accessibility tests for large-scale software systems
