The IT Accessibility Manager leads, develops, and implements accessibility initiatives across the organization's digital and IT infrastructure. This role ensures that technology solutions, digital content, and software systems comply with accessibility standards such as WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines), ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), Title II, and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. The manager will collaborate with internal stakeholders, including IT, web development, HR, and procurement teams, to create an inclusive digital experience for all users, including individuals with disabilities.

Essential Functions

Strategic Leadership & Compliance

Develop and oversee IT accessibility policies, ensuring compliance with WCAG, ADA, and Section 508.
Lead accessibility assessments and audits for websites, applications, and digital services.
Serve as the organization's primary point of contact for accessibility-related IT initiatives.
Monitor legislative and regulatory changes related to digital accessibility and ensure timely organizational compliance.

Training & Advocacy

Provide training and resources to IT staff, content creators, and stakeholders on accessibility best practices.
Advocate for accessible technology solutions and promote a culture of digital inclusion.
Develop internal accessibility documentation and guidelines for employees.

Technical & Support Services

Collaborate with IT and development teams to implement accessibility solutions in software, web, and mobile applications.
Work with vendors and procurement teams to ensure third-party software and platforms meet accessibility requirements.
Conduct usability testing with assistive technologies such as screen readers, speech recognition software, and alternative input devices.
Guide accessible document creation, multimedia captioning, and other inclusive digital practices.

Project Management & Collaboration

Lead cross-functional initiatives to integrate accessibility into IT projects from inception to deployment.
Collaborate with UX/UI designers, developers, and QA testers to incorporate accessibility features in digital products.
Engage with employees and external partners, including disability advocacy groups, to gather feedback and improve accessibility efforts.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
3+ years of experience in IT accessibility, digital compliance, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of WCAG, ADA, Section 508, and other relevant accessibility standards.
Experience working with assistive technologies (e.g., screen readers, voice recognition software).
Familiarity with accessibility testing tools such as Axe, WAVE, and JAWS/NVDA.
Project management experience with a focus on accessibility initiatives.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to train and educate diverse teams.


Preferred Qualifications

Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) or Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) certification.
Experience in higher education, government, or corporate IT accessibility programs.
Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and ARIA for accessible web development.
Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS) or enterprise IT systems.

This is a full-time exempt position scheduled to work Monday through Friday. The salary for this position is $83,000 - $91,000 annually, which includes a generous benefits package that includes the following.
