The Programmer/Analyst will serve as a statewide subject matter expert for web accessibility supporting the California Community Colleges Accessibility Center (CCCAC) as part of the California Community Colleges Technology Center (CCCTC). Funded since 1997 through 5-year grants by the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office (CCCO), the CCCTC is hosted by Butte College.

The successful candidate will develop accessible web best practice guidance, processes, and procedures. Provide training, resources, and support to faculty and staff to ensure websites and webpages meet Federal and State accessibility standards, supporting equity for students with disabilities in higher education. Audit, test using DHS Trusted Tester methodology, and establish technical specifications to bring all internally built web applications up to current accessibility standards. Evaluate, implement, administer, manage and train users on automated web assessment tool(s) supported by the CCCAC for campus usage. Provide web accessibility statistics and written reports regarding system-wide website compliance, as well as web accessibility related product usage. Provide technical guidance regarding the accessibility of applications, systems analysis, design, development, and implementation of accessible systems. Collaborate with internal and external partners through written, oral and presentation methods to coordinate and/or implement accessible website(s), online services, and related documentation.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to perform a variety of specialized duties involved in identifying and suggesting potential solutions for accessibility barriers. Provide specialized and technical support and assistance; analyze and solve complex and difficult accessibility problems related to people, processes, and technology. The successful candidate should maintain knowledge of applications programming theory, principles and practices; software development life cycle; current and emerging application programming and scripting languages; current and emerging technology, service protocols, standards, and guidelines. This position provides advice on the development and implementation of processes to meet institutional compliance with pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, rules, regulations, policies and established technical standards related to access technology, including but not limited to, Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act; Americans with Disabilities Act; California Government Code 11135 and 7405; Twenty-First Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act; Section 225 of the Telecommunications Act, WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2, and other web accessibility legislation.

Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
