The Document Remediation Specialist is responsible for creating, editing, converting and formatting documents to ensure accessibility to people with disabilities in compliance with Section 508 requirements and company standards so they are readable by assistive technology devices.
1.0 Essential duties and responsibilities(3-5 core functions representing 80% of time spent):
Coverts Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint documents into current accessible documents.
Applies appropriate tags to documents for accessibility.
Reviews tagged accessible documents for conformity and compliance.
AT consultations for consumers and veterans. (i.e. what AT can do and what it entails)
Assess client's current skill levels, problem-areas and identify ways to maintain and improve current levels.
Knowledge and demonstration of OrCam, NuEyes, IrisVision, etc.
Conducts iOS, iPad OS and Android accessibility training.
JAWS, ZoomText, macOS, Windows 10 Computer accessibility training.
Creating guides geared towards accessibility and iOS updates
Research latest AT-related technologies
May be involved in community outreach events such as meeting w/ local businesses: Microsoft & Apple regarding AT, accessibility, and NewView.
Conducts presentations, mobile-accessibility training, etc.
Demos for office tours

Performs all other duties as assigned.
2.0 Qualifications (Minimum education, experience, training, licensure, certification):
Prefer an Associate Degree or higher in Computer Science or related field.
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook 2013 or better.
Written communication skills including English grammar and punctuation.
Self-motivating and an ability to work independently.
Attention to detail and good organization.
Virtual Office Requirements:
PC or Laptop (No MACS).
Windows 10 Professional or better.
MS Office 2017 or better.
