Position: Remote Software Engineer - Accessibility Specialist

Location: 100% Remote within the US (Preferably Texas)



Your Mission:

As a Remote Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in making our digital platforms accessible to all. Your expertise will drive the development of programs that adhere to accessibility standards, enabling everyone to engage with our technology. From evaluating feasibility to training our team, your contribution will make a lasting difference.



Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with users to understand needs and objectives, analyzing the feasibility, cost, and compatibility of new programs.
Develop detailed plans, utilizing structured analysis or object-oriented methodologies.
Lead the migration of software code to newer .NET frameworks while ensuring accessibility compliance.
Harness your extensive knowledge of web technologies and accessibility tools to create a more inclusive online experience.
Train developers and testers in accessibility best practices, fostering an environment of understanding.
Provide guidance on disability laws, ensuring our systems adhere to regulations like the ADA and Section 504.
Conduct audits and testing using assistive technologies, generating insightful reports and presentations.
Apply your expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and WAI-ARIA to drive accessibility implementation.
Drive projects independently, showcasing your effective project management and communication skills.
Collaborate in crafting accessible solutions for applications and providing necessary specifications.



Qualifications:

Experience: A minimum of 8 years in IT software development, demonstrating familiarity with industry practices and procedures.
Expertise: Proficiency in Microsoft .NET technologies including C#.NET, VB.NET, ASP.NET, MVC, jQuery, and JavaScript.
Accessibility Champion: A hands-on experience of 8 years in testing application accessibility with assistive technologies.
Web Fluency: Extensive knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, coupled with a deep understanding of web content management systems.
Inclusive Vision: Familiarity with disability law, including ADA and Section 504, highlighting your commitment to accessible design.
Access to Excellence: Skilled usage of WAI-ARIA and comprehensive understanding of WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards.
Project Leadership: Proven ability to independently lead accessibility tasks to completion, showcasing your organizational prowess.
