Overview
WebAIM seeks to make the web more accessible to people with disabilities. WebAIM is a proud component of the USU Center for Persons with Disabilities.
One of our most popular services is website accessibility evaluation. As a web accessibility specialist, you will inspect client web pages (aided by our WAVE evaluation tool), document the accessibility barriers you find, explain their impact on users, and recommend strategies for remediation. Our team doesn’t actually fix our clients’ sites; instead, our goal is to educate and empower our clients to build more inclusive websites themselves.
Responsibilities
Evaluate client websites for accessibility and compliance.
Contribute to WebAIM’s mission of improving web accessibility.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
HTML5 and CSS3 proficiency
Ability to explain technical concepts, in writing, to non-technical readers.
Proactive and motivated team player with demonstrated personal work habits of initiative taking and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Web Content Accessibilty Guidelines.
Experience using screen reader software.
Experience or interest in web usability
Experience with website evaluation/QA and implementation.
