Position Summary
ADA Compliance Advisor will work across Xcel Energy across capabilities (designers, marketers, developers) to advise, review and provide guidance on the steps needed to ensure any digital properties are up to the latest WCAG ADA compliance standards. This person will remain up to date on any adjustments to the laws, providing guidance, appropriate training and mitigation plans to meet the standards.

Essential Responsibilities

Perform various tasks related to the governance of quality, compliant front-end code.
Plan and perform web accessibility testing with assistive technologies such as JAWS, VoiceOver, and ZoomText, with the understanding of their interactions with multiple browsers and platform combinations.
Perform tasks to ensure delivery of accessible design and markup, such as: Visually conduct accessibility reviews of design assets provided by visual designers, interaction designers, and content strategists.
Define and document accessibility requirements for design deliverables and user stories.
Perform spot testing or heuristic reviews of coded deliverables.
Promote accessibility within the organization; advocate for considering accessibility as a vital part of the customer experience.
Contribute to accessibility training of others; lead and present training sessions.
Assist in the management, planning, facilitation, and tracking of vendor accessibility testing engagements.


Minimum Requirements

Bachelors Degree or equivalent.
5+ years of experience in ADA compliance and using assistive technologies.
Expert Level user in Assistive Technology (JAWS, VoiceOVer, etc.)Agile Working.
Proficient in the latest Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
Ability to convey issues to designers and developers verbally and in writing.


Preferred Qualifications

Strong communication and presentation skills.
Experience in a human behavior-related field (Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Social Science, or other related field)
