The Center for Teaching and Learning seeks an Assistive Technology Specialist to assist students with applying appropriate assistive technologies to address educational technology limitations, troubleshoot assistive technology barriers, introduce and train staff in the use of assistive technologies, research assistive technology solutions, and test software interfaces with assistive technology.
Required Education and Experience: Associate’s degree from an accredited college in a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
One year of full-time experience serving the assistive technology needs of persons with disabilities.
Two years of paid or volunteer experience in serving individuals with disabilities through the use of assistive technology.
Proficiency with adapting training approaches to match the learning styles of students with a variety of disabilities.
Knowledge and proficiency with a variety of assistive technologies.
Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software problems.
Familiarity with Section 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Experience using assistive technologies including but not limited to: NVDA, Natural Readers, JAWS, VoiceOver, Narrator, Talkback, etc.
Experience conducting accessibility reviews using WCAG 2.1 Guidelines.
This position is only funded for one year; additional funding will need to be secured in future years.
Salary Range: $40000 - $45000
