Job Description Summary
Penn’s Information Systems and Computing organization is seeking a Senior Web Accessibility Analyst. The Web Accessibility Analyst will support the Penn community in meeting the WCAG 2.0 Level AA standards, and ensure Penn’s web presence is accessible to all audiences. This will involve leading coordination efforts across various campus units, helping to establish best practices and standards, working closely with both developers and communications staff. This position will work within Penn’s Web Accessibility Governance structure.

Job Description

Penn’s Information Systems and Computing organization is seeking a Senior Web Accessibility Analyst. The Web Accessibility Analyst will support the Penn community in meeting the WCAG 2.0 Level AA standards, and ensure Penn’s web presence is accessible to all audiences. This will involve leading coordination efforts across various campus units, helping to establish best practices and standards, working closely with both developers and communications staff. This position will work within Penn’s Web Accessibility Governance structure.

Duties Include:

Create processes, templates, documentation, and/or tools to support University-level web accessibility.
Under direction of Penn’s Governance group, develop and maintain a University web accessibility website.
Perform accessibility reviews of University web sites and applications.
Assist in software evaluation and testing to ensure that purchased software meets University accessibility guidelines.
Develop and maintain accessibility testing procedures, providing access to tools and reports for web site owners so they may remediate vulnerabilities themselves.
Provide incident handling support for web accessibility incidents, including acting in the role of first responder as needed.
Maintain expertise on state of the art and emerging web technologies and stay abreast of both new accessibility trends and standards as well as new technologies for review and compliance. Maintain expertise of all Federal and State regulatory requirements and provide report and compliance recommendations to Governance group.
Present and train on web accessibility topics at various events across Penn, including both technical and communication communities.
Lead/participate on project teams and act as a liaison with other institutions, campus organizations, vendors, and committees. Assist in the evolution of Penn’s new web accessibility policy, appropriate to the campus environment, with recommendations on tools and improved processes.
Other duties as assigned, which may include coding updates on highest priority sites.

Qualifications:
Education: BS/BA (Computer Science, Engineering, Information Science or related field) or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Required:

3-5 years’ experience working in web development with content management systems including Drupal and/or WordPress
Experience developing web sites with both server and browser scripting tools, including PHP, HTML, CSS3, SASS/LESS, and JavaScript; experience with front-end development frameworks such as React and Angular helpful
Proficiency with the Unix command line and Git
Extensive knowledge and experience with accessible web design
Familiarity with web accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.0 and/or section 508
Familiarity with accessibility reporting tools such as Dinolytics or WAVE
Experience testing with assistive technologies such as screen readers and visual aids
Ability to interact with both technical and non-technical audiences Motivated, focused and self-guiding; works well on a small team as well as in collaboration
