The Chief Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility Officer shall be responsible for all matters relating to diversity and inclusion in management, employment, and business activities within TSA. The Chief Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility Officer is appointed by, and reports to, the Deputy Administrator and Administrator, and is the principal diversity and inclusion strategist to Senior Leadership. As the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility Officer you will serve as the principal advisor to the Administrator on agency diversity and inclusion matters and shall advance diversity and inclusion as core values and objectives. The primary functions of this position necessitate close coordination, consultation, and program collaboration with the Chief of Staff, Executive Assistant Administrators for Enterprise Support, Security Operations, Operations Support, Law Enforcement /Federal Air Marshal Service, the Assistant Administrator for Civil Rights & Liberties, Ombudsman and Traveler Engagement, the Chief Counsel and external political appointees and executive leaders. As directed, the Chief Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility Officer may lead discrete diversity and inclusion initiatives TSA wide in coordination with Human Capital and/or Civil Rights & Liberties, Ombudsman and Traveler Engagement.
You will maintain liaison with other components of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), other Federal agencies, state and local governments, and Congressional committee staffs. The responsibilities of the position have an agency-wide impact and influence, which includes providing innovative and expert leadership in the establishment and implementation of comprehensive Diversity & Inclusion related policies and programs.
High-level duties include:
Designing, developing and recommending a diversity management strategy for the agency that aligns with and contributes directly to TSA's mission and strategic goals.
As directed, implementing designated TSA-wide special initiatives pertaining to diversity and inclusion.
Developing standards for equal employment opportunity and the racial, ethnic, and gender diversity of the workforce and senior management of TSA; increasing participation of businesses owned by women and traditionally under-represented groups in the programs and contracts of TSA, including standards for coordinating technical assistance to such businesses; and coordinating with appropriate officials on the design and implementation of any remedies resulting from violations of any civil rights statutes or regulations (but responsibilities do not include enforcement of such statutes, regulations or executive orders).
Developing and implementing standards and procedures to ensure, to the maximum extent possible, the fair inclusion and utilization of women and traditionally under-represented people in all business and activities of the agency at all levels, including in procurement, insurance, and all types of contracts.
Proactively engaging all offices and takes affirmative steps to seek diversity in the workforce at all levels in a manner consistent with applicable law.
Following legislative matters of interest to apprise the Administrator of their status and progress, and responding to questions posed by House and Senate committee members and their staffs regarding TSA policies and programs.
Performing in an advisory role on legislative and inter-governmental matters of importance to the Administrator often within a very short time frame, which includes options available and recommended courses of action.
Salary Range: $147000 - $212000
