Detailed Description:
Lilly Digital Accessibility, located in the newly formed Digital Office, is accountable for advancing inclusion and digital accessibility—as defined by the World Wide Web Consortium—throughout the enterprise.
The Digital Accessibility Associate is responsible for supporting the Digital Accessibility team's strategic goals, including accessibility testing of digital properties, inclusion and inclusive design advocacy, awareness of regulations and laws as they pertain to compliance needs, and accessibility testing protocols and reporting standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Good understanding of Web Content and Mobile Accessibility Standards and Laws
Hands-on experience in testing websites to ensure conformance to WCAG 2.0 Level A/AA, Section 508.
Proficient in understanding and authoring test strategies and plans for WAI-ARIA
Thorough understanding of W3C standards-compliant HTML and CSS
Document findings in an accessible format for review by developers and other stakeholders
Work with stakeholders to resolve identified accessibility issues.
Retest products after fixes have been implemented to ensure that issues have been properly addressed.
Knowledge of the latest accessibility technologies and trends.
Educate team members on accessibility best practices.
Advocate for the inclusion of accessibility considerations in all phases of product development
Provide training and awareness sessions on accessibility topics to internal and external audiences.
Build collaborative relationships with internal and external project stakeholders to achieve business objectives related to testing activities, defect investigations, issues, and concerns related to assigned testing and products.
Work with Developers, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to understand Accessibility requirements, and implementation details to come up with detailed Accessibility test strategies.
Have Strong manual testing skills, and analytical and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications
Required
Applicants for the Accessibility Tester role are required to have these qualifications:
Knowledge of digital accessibility and inclusion
Knowledge of assistive technologies used for web browsing such as JAWS or NVDA
Proficient in carrying out comprehensive Accessibility testing of Web and Mobile applications including keyboard navigation, screen readers and color contrast tools.
Working knowledge of online tools like Accessibility Scanner, Accessibility Inspector, Mobile Web Accessibility Checker.
Knowledge of regulations related to digital accessibility (e.g., Section 508, ADA)
Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 or higher AA requirements
Experience using accessibility evaluation tools and frameworks.
Experience using assistive technologies (e.g., VoiceOver, JAWS, Dragon Naturally Speaking, ZoomText, TalkBack, Speak to Me, axe DevTools)
Preferred:
Applicants with the following qualifications will be preferred:
Knowledge of web technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
Professional training in using assistive technologies.
Has experience using assistive technology working on products or similar products?
Experience conducting usability tests that include participants with accessibility challenges.
