We're seeking a talented, self-directed Senior User Researcher with Accessibility expertise to help the team understand the diversity of user needs through research and build a more inclusive product experience. This individual will collaborate with a diverse team of engineers, program managers, and designers to drive research strategy and improve experiences impacting millions of customers worldwide, from individual developers to large enterprises. This is a high impact role, where you will own the research roadmap for accessibility across all of AWS.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
This Senior User Researcher will help to educate cross-functional teams about accessibility best practices and own the research roadmap to ensure AWS improves and create a more inclusive experience for all customers. In addition, you will:

Define and execute a comprehensive research roadmap, using a mix of qual and quant methods to understand AWS customer needs.
Design, plan and conduct user research studies for people with disabilities through lab studies, field visits, ethnography, surveys, benchmark studies, server logs and online experiments.
Teach inclusive and accessible principles and best practices to product and design teams.
Effectively translate data and insights into actionable product strategy and design direction.
Create a deep understanding and empathy for all customers, including those with disabilities.
Collaborate with a cross-functional team of designers, product managers and engineers to share insights and drive product strategy
Continually learn, grow, and improve the craft of UX research

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· BS in HCDE, Human Factors, Psychology or related discipline
· 5+ years of relevant industry experience with design research, utilizing various qual and quant methods
· 2+ years of experience working with accessibility standards, accessibility features and/or inclusive design practices
· Experience with accessibility tools, including screen readers and magnification tools, in a UX context
· Portfolio demonstrating past work experience and deliverables (e.g., study plans, reports, etc.) specific to inclusive design and/or accessibility research


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· MS or Ph.D. in Human Factors, HCDE, Psychology, Computer Science or related field.
· Experience in research leadership and/or leading Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts
· Experience building products for diverse audiences, including people from historically under-represented communities and/or people with accessibility needs
· Knowledge about the tradeoffs between research methods
· The ability to manage ambiguity, work autonomously, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
