Job Introduction

The starting salary for this role is £27,991 per annum and is based on a 36 working hour week.

Based in Customer Services, Surrey's Web and Digital Service supports and develops the Surrey County Council website and partnership website.

The team are currently managing a digital accessibility programme which will ensure that all Surrey County Council websites and digital assets adhere to accessibility regulations, in line with UK law.

The Digital Accessibility Officer will form an important part of the project team that has been put together to successfully meet this achievement. This position is offered as a 12 month fixed-term opportunity.

The project team has a detailed roadmap to compliance specifically aimed at fixing issues and finding alternative mechanisms for managing web content and digital files to provide an optimised, accessible experience for all. This will be measured and assessed through weekly targets across all service areas of the Surry County council website, prioritised against seasonal trends of the most popular and well used areas of the website. Solutions and outputs must meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards in order to stand up to scrutiny by GDS (Government Digital Services) in the case of an audit.

Knowledge and understanding of digital accessibility and its impact on digital user experience

Experience of using web content management systems to edit, support and maintain multiple or large websites

The ability to use web analytics and behavioural data to make decisions on how to improve user experience
