Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an IT Accessibility Analyst for OIT-Enterprise Service Delivery.
This position is responsible for reviewing information technology procurement contracts and other projects with accessibility implications. This position works to ensure information technology and accessibility standards are met and that contract terms further the University’s interests. This position reports to the Associate Director, IT Accessibility, and works closely with IT procurement, Rutgers Access and Disability Resources, and unit level IT purchasers. The IT Accessibility Analyst serves as a resource for the campus community on IT disability issues and conducts educational events to improve the University community’s understanding of disability issues, and has an obligation to advance compliance.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Ensures contracts are in compliance with appropriate laws, regulations, and University policies/procedures.
Provides training and outreach, assists in the development of a risk-based approach to contract review, and develops associated assessment tools and other resources.
Provides excellent internal and external customer service.
Works with IT staff in schools, colleges, and departments on the selection and use of hardware and software assistive technologies.
Creates awareness around IT accessibility and disability issues related to IT systems and processes.
Demonstrates the ability to identify accessibility issues within products and services while providing guidance to vendors and purchasers regarding compliance.
Develops and delivers training to members of the University community relating to product and service accessibility.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in accessibility, UX, computer science, web development/design, information technology, human computer interaction or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
A minimum of two years relevant experience in related field.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Great organizational skills
Effective written and oral communication skills
Ability to interact with many levels of University staff and external suppliers
Ability to work under and meet required deadlines, plan, organize, execute multiple and continuing assignments, and monitor workload
Must have extensive knowledge in web communication accessibility barriers
Knowledge of disability law including but not limited to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act (Section 504)
Knowledge of WCAG 2.0 accessibility standards and guidelines
Experience conducting accessibility evaluations, using accessibility evaluation tools and processes
Experience with a variety of software packages, such as word processing, spreadsheet, and ed-tech tools


Preferred Qualifications

Extensive knowledge and experience with web technologies (HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Xml, and Web content management systems).
Assistive technology experience, or interest in learning assistive technology tools.
Familiarity with scripting languages desirable (PHP, JavaScript).
Experience developing and delivering training workshops and webinars.
Analytical skills for problem resolution and complex contract analysis.
Knowledge and experience of web development platforms.
1-2 years of accessibility related work experience.
Project management experience


Equipment Utilized

Knowledge and experience with web content management systems (Wordpress, Drupal, and Joomla)
Knowledge and experience with assistive technologies (JAWS, VoiceOver, Dragon NaturallySpeaking)
Experience with web accessibility testing tools like Deque WorldSpace Comply, Compliance Sheriff, etc.

Salary Range: $65000 - $99000
