As a Senior Software Developer on the SAS accessibility team, you will create technology that enables people of all abilities to access the power of analytics. Your top priority will be to help us expand the capabilities of SAS Graphics Accelerator – a Google Chrome extension that enables people with blindness to perceive data visualizations and geospatial maps using non-visual methods. You will also help product teams across SAS create efficient user experiences for users with disabilities.



What you’ll do

You will design and develop high quality, scalable and maintainable software that enables people with disabilities to access data, data visualization and analytics.



You will

Scope product requirements, estimate effort, and help plan release schedules.
Ensure quality by creating and maintaining automated tests with extensive code coverage.
Stay informed of rapidly changing web technologies and incorporate those technologies into products, as appropriate.
Evolve software architecture to meet changes in product requirements.
Collaborate with product managers to prioritize accessibility defects and features.
Collaborate with designers to create experiences that delight SAS users of all abilities.
Test products during development and report accessibility defects.
Prototype accessibility features/fixes and share with product development teams.
Collaborate with technical writers to share information with end users in the form of product documentation, videos, and/or white papers.
Train individual contributors within product teams to independently satisfy accessibility requirements.



What we’re looking for

You’re curious, passionate, authentic, and accountable. These are our values and influence everything we do.
You have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
8+ years of experience working on large complex software products as a software developer.
Excellent working knowledge of modern front-end web technologies including JavaScript.
A demonstrated ability to design and build software systems that are scalable, extensible and maintainable.
A proven ability to ship early and often.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.



The nice to haves

Working knowledge of the accessibility features of HTML5, the Accessible Rich Internet Application suite and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
Working knowledge of accessibility testing tools.
Experience with Dragon Naturally Speaking and at least one screen reader.
Experience developing JavaScript components.
Experience developing video games.
