Production Specialist - Quality Assurance and Accessibility

The College of Information Sciences and Technology(IST)’s Office of Learning Design is looking to fill a Production Assistant position to support the development and delivery of online courses. The applicant who fills this position will work closely with the Instructional Design and Production teams to complete both general production and QA specific tasks. This position is responsible for reviewing and revising course content and other materials to ensure the quality and accessibility of our courses. Required Skills: Strong writing and copy editing skills to ensure writing is easy to read and fits rhetorical style suitable for higher education. Keen attention to detail. Knowledge of basic web accessibility practices. Tasks include: Reviewing course content with eye for errors, formatting consistency, accessibility, and general usability. Captioning/transcribing videos. Converting content formats (e.g. moving content from word docs into Canvas). Other projects as needed. This position requires critical thinking, problem solving, teamwork skills, a willingness to learn new software/programs. Familiarity and/or interest with any of the following is helpful: Canvas, HTML/CSS, Adobe CC software, Smartsheet, Kaltura, Microsoft Office 365, WordPress. Scope of work depends on both the needs of the unit and the interests/experiences of the applicants. We are looking for candidates that can schedule at least 10 hrs./week during Fall and Spring semesters. Scheduling more hours is a possibility, depending on workload and other factors. Additional hours during the summer and university breaks are possible, but not guaranteed or required. Preference will be given to those who are available to work this summer, but a fall start date is also a possibility.
