This position is responsible for working with employees and managers in the interactive accommodation process. This position also serves as an advocate on councils and the campuses for employees with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities

What You'll Do and Who We Are Looking For

Provides equitable and consistent interpretation and guidance on ADA and Accessibility policies and procedures in alignment with state and federal law, PCC culture, and other initiatives, resulting in the advancement of healthy work environments and engaged staff.
Leads an inclusive and accessible interactive process for employees and supervisors to request ADA accommodations; partnering with employees and supervisors regarding ADA compliance and accommodation requests.
Provides training and coaching to managers and employees around fostering a culture inclusive and adaptive to those who experience disabilities.
Provides ADA technical expertise across the People Strategy, Equity, and Culture team.
Acts as an employee champion and change agent. Understands and models cultural competence and skill communicating with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
Serves on accessibility committees to engage the PCC Community and supports efforts to create an accessible environment
Supports the development and implementation of short and long-term DEI strategies focused on developing and supporting PCC’s diverse employee population.
Responsible for tracking and managing PCC’s ADA budget

SUCCESS CRITERIA

Demonstrated experience incorporating principles that advance diversity, equity, and inclusion into People and Culture practices and policies.
Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in de-escalation, managing difficult conversations, negotiating, and navigating conflict resolution conversations.
Ability to influence and coach employees and managers through complex, difficult and emotional issues, and influence decisions without direct decision-making authority.
Ability to resolve problems or issues by gathering and assessing information, seeking input, and using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, values, and regulations.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain an equitable and inclusive workplace through interactions, decisions, and recommendations.
Expert-level knowledge of anti-discrimination law (ADA) and other applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, regulations, codes, and/or statutes.
Ability to advocate for employees while identifying and navigating the cultural, financial, and legal impacts on the organization.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field. Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Five years of professional human resources, or other relevant experience, which includes experience in the development and delivery of ADA and accessibility strategies.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), you may view Portland Community College’s (PCC) most recent Annual Security Report (ASR) on the Department of Public Safety website. The ASR contains current security and safety-related policy disclosure statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information and resources, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains crime statistics for Clery Act crimes which occurred on PCC properties for the last three calendar years. Paper copies of the ASR are available upon request at all Department of Public Safety offices.
