This position
The Senior Accessibility Engineer will be responsible for identifying and developing solutions for accessibility barriers based on the W3C WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards. This person also contributes to efforts aimed at delivering our accessible Design System, accessible apps/content on websites, and mobile platforms.

This person should be knowledgeable in a variety of common electronic communication accessibility barriers for people with hearing, physical, speech, cognitive, and vision disabilities. In addition, the Senior Accessibility Engineer will be familiar with the following methodologies: visual analysis; automated scans; screen reader reviews; color sampling; keyboard-only testing; browser plug-ins; and code reviews. We are looking for an individual with a strong desire to make DocuSign an enjoyable and compelling experience for all.

This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Lead Accessibility Engineer/SME and is designated Flex.

Responsibilities

Develop technical solutions for complex accessibility issues
Interface with internal PMs, Devs, QA, Design and our partners to explain accessibility barriers and potential solutions in everyday language as well as technical language
Contribute to the creation, maintenance and improvement of our accessible Design System
Raise issues proactively that might impact delivery commitments
Teach and evangelize accessible coding, design, QA and practices throughout DocuSign
Research new features and technologies

Basic qualifications

BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience
Extensive knowledge of JavaScript, CSS, HTML, React
8+ years industry experience in Software Engineering
Experience with JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver screen readers (PC, Mac and iOS experience)
Extensive knowledge of WCAG 2.0, WCAG 2.1 and ADA guidelines
Extensive knowledge of ARIA

Preferred qualifications

Certified IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) or Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS)
Curiosity and ability to learn new technologies and tool sets
Excellent attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects
Strong communication, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills

Based on Colorado law, the following details are for Colorado individuals only: Colorado base salary range: $133,000 - $165,200 and eligible for bonus, equity and benefits.
