Digital Accessibility Assistant

Essential Functions:

Reviewing Materials in Canvas to determine if they are accessible
Use a variety of edtech and accessibility tools to modify files to increase accessibility, including adding alt text, headings, captions, modifying colors, etc.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Ability to work efficiently while juggling multiple priorities  
Strong desire to learn and develop new competencies as needed  
Ability to work well with others in a highly-collaborative and energetic work environment  
Excellent verbal and written communication skills  
Must be able to work ethically and independently with minimal supervision, prioritizing tasks and thinking critically. 
Must be able to work with sensitive and confidential information in accordance with the University Privacy Policy and FERPA. 
Organizational skills and attention to detail 
Required Qualifications:

Current DU undergraduate or graduate student enrolled for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Work-study award for the 2025-26 academic year
Preferred Qualifications:

Prior work experience in an office setting
Experience with some of the following tools: Outlook, Word, Excel , Canvas, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and/or Artificial Intelligence tools like Copilot or ChatGPT.
Working Environment:

If working remotely from your home, a standard computer set-up with access to a reliable internet connection is expected. Hours are flexible.
If working in the office, expect a standard open cubical office environment with some unexpected interruptions, and stress level is moderate to high. Noise level is moderate.
The department has dedicated support staff and tools to assist students using assistive technology or access to other accommodations.
Physical Activities:

Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period.
While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is required to reach, finger, grasp, talk, hear, and make repetitive motions.
The position is mostly sedentary work; exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
The employee is required to have close visual acuity.
