This position will provide overall leadership and strategic planning for the accessibility program for the defined Section 508, which focuses on the leading areas of web accessibility, procurement and digital content accessibility in the integration of usability, accessibility in products and services, in both system-wide and CCCTC system efforts. Identify opportunities in all 73 Community College Districts to adapt and better support the accessibility processes and procedures necessary for all products, services, experiences, current technology, emerging technology, and obligations to provide access to all within the educational environment.

The ideal candidate should have experience evaluating technologies for conformance to accessibility standards with emphasis on information and communication technology and identification of accessibility barriers. They would also have experience in coordinating complex projects that involve a high level of collaboration including developing successful business processes such as accessibility capability maturity models, with the ability to clearly communicate in written, oral, and presentation formats. They would have knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures related to area of assignment including, but not limited to: Section 508 and Section 504 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act; Americans with Disabilities Act; California Government Code 11135 and 7405; Twenty-First Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act; Section 225 of the Telecommunications Act, WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2, and other accessibility legislation.

This position will serve as statewide subject matter expert for Section 508 supporting the California Community Colleges Accessibility Center (CCCAC) as part of the California Community Colleges Technology Center (CCCTC). They will provide advice to the director on the development and implementation of processes to meet institutional compliance with laws, regulations, and established technical standards related to access technology. The California Community Colleges Technology Center, hosted by Butte College, has been funded since 1997 through 5-year grants by the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office. The work schedule is Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
