Job Description Summary

This position works within NU ITS and other University of Nebraska stakeholders to proactively and systemically address accessibility of University IT systems, infrastructure, and contracts to improve the compliance, usability and interoperability of IT resources and related services.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Instructional Technology, Assistive Technology or related field; equivalency considered
Three years experience working in IT accessibility, accessibility application consulting, development or related area; required
Knowledge of web content management systems; required
Proven ability to work with non-technical stakeholders, in addition to technical staff within ITS, including Academic Technologies, Application Development, Project Management, Strategic Planning, Finance/Budget, Procurement and Security; required
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite; required
Excellent oral and written communication skills; required
Knowledge of accessibility standards and guidelines including but not limited to Sections 504/508 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act; preferred
Experience working in higher education environment; preferred
Knowledge of best practices in assessing new software or hardware for ADA compliance prior to purchase; preferred
CPWA designation; preferred
Master’s degree; preferred
