Digital Accessibility Training and Outreach Program Manager

The Training and Outreach Program Manager will help sustain the excellence of Princeton’s digital accessibility initiative through expanding its training and outreach efforts. Recognizing the profound impact of technology on higher education, and being committed to providing a welcoming and inclusive community, the program manager will help ensure that the University’s information technology and the information it provides is accessible to people with disabilities.

This is a 2-year benefits-eligible term position.
Responsibilities:

Manage the overall training and outreach program for raising the awareness of the importance of digital accessibility
In partnership with the digital accessibility team, develop an annual training and outreach business plan. Identify and maintain a budget, implement the plan, and track progress, with a focus on continual improvement
Manage a digital accessibility website redesign project, including scope, time, cost, stakeholder engagement and communications
Gather feedback from various constituencies to inform program efforts
Conceptualize and create materials in support of the digital accessibility initiative to increase the accessibility of information technology and the content it delivers
Serve as a liaison to website owners to assist them in understanding and acting on reports from the accessibility testing platform
Organize awareness events for the campus (e.g., Global Accessibility Awareness Day), recognition events, and participate in organizing the AllyPrinceton meetup
Communicate regularly with various constituencies, such as website owners, accessibility certified staff, and departmental computing support staff
Maintain the digital accessibility website. Work with subject matter experts to develop and maintain content, such as events, knowledge, news, and links
Promote awareness and events via University systems and social media networks
Develop training and support materials for the accessibility testing platform
Coordinate and promote training sessions; identify topics in need of coverage, and work with campus subject matter experts to develop and deliver new trainings
Monitor training attendance and success; use metrics to help identify underrepresented departments, and determine how best to reach them
Maintain currency of training and outreach knowledge and best practices
Maintain knowledge of the accessibility landscape as it affects higher education
Participate in related professional organizations and groups

Qualifications:

Minimum of three to five years experience in instructional design, communications, education, web design or development, user experience, or similar
Ability to create excitement and enthusiasm through creative messaging
Passion for diversity, disability access, and digital accessibility
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Experience developing and delivering training
Ability to plan and budget for training and communications
Ability to manage web content
Experience creating instructional videos using standard platforms
Knowledge of standard social media platforms
Ability to collaborate with colleagues from different levels of the organization and with varied levels of technical knowledge
Ability to multi-task and work independently with minimum supervision
Flexible, proactive and possessing a can-do attitude
Enthusiasm for learning new technologies and techniques that support evolving needs
A blend of curiosity, creativity, persistence, commitment, and optimism, with a desire for continual self-improvement and learning

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of digital accessibility and disability, regulations, and WCAG requirements
Experience in accessibility-focused communications, outreach, or training
Professional experience in higher education
CPACC, WAS or other professional accessibility certification

Bachelor’s degree
