Section 508 Compliance Specialist

This position will provide in-depth 508 compliance expertise for CDC communication materials. Under general supervision, the incumbent assists with the development and execution of policies and procedures to meet Section 508 standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assists with the development and execution of policies and procedures to meet Section 508 standards.
Serves as a primary source of expertise concerning Section 508 accessibility remediation and helps the project team meet the Section 508 standards.
Provides thorough remediation for accessibility and compliance to section 508 of the ADA act and explains to internal and external customers what processes are available and used for remediation.
Plan, create and execute test cases for Section 508 Compliance testing.
Record problems/defects identified during testing and retest problems after they are resolved by the development team.
Recommends Section 508 remediation solutions / improvements related to service offerings, processes and artifacts.
Stays current on Section 508 policy and federal agency accessibility checklists.


Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of experience or additional 4 years of relevant experience equivalent to Bachelor's Degree
Experience and established subject matter expertise and in 508 compliance
Have knowledge of tools used for secondary compliance testing, such as:
JAWS
Dragon Natural Speaking
Zoom Text
Adobe Acrobat Pro
Zoom Text (Knowledge and Experience)
Proficient skills with Microsoft Office applications
