The Job

As a QA Accessibility Engineer at HBO Max, you will be responsible for quality deliverables and QA planning efforts across multiple features or client releases, testing the stability of the software release candidates across all HBO property, including connected TV devices, web sites and mobile platforms. You’ll be responsible for working with a wide array of groups to understand the agreed upon functionality, how the functionality will work and to create test cases and scenarios which will fully exercise this functionality. Works independently with oversight.

The Daily
Define accessibility requirements as the subject matter expert of this area
Work with product development and engineers to inform how products should be designed for accessibility
Take ownership of features and work related to accessibility guidelines
Report team status to QA Lead.
Use Assistive Technologies, such as screen reader software (NVDA, JAWS), and Accessibility test tools.
Develop and provide expertise in the planning, constructing and execution of tests to verify compliance to accessibility guidelines and standards.
Understand and stay current with accessibility compliance guidelines (e.g. WCAG and Section 508) and apply testing standards, guidelines, and testing methodology to meet the team's overall test objectives. Maintain technical and screen reader competency to complete manual accessibility tests.
Perform complete audits and validation testing on software and documents, based upon Section 508 and/or W3C WCAG 2.1 accessibility guidelines.
Ensure all testing results are easily accessible and understandable. Track defects to closure and keep defect repository up-to-date.
Write detailed findings to document identified issues and recommend potential solutions and best practices for remediation of accessibility violations.
Enforce and evangelize standards for consistent practices throughout the department.


The Essentials
Demonstrate advanced knowledge of Section 508 and accessibility-related user interface (UI) best practices for web sites, mobile device applications, software applications, and electronic documents (e.g., PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) in order to both accurately identify accessibility issues in developed products and to identify potential accessibility barriers and violations.
Have experience in Section 508 and W3C WCAG Accessibility assessments, manual and automated testing, and software remediation.
Have at least 5-8 years of experience within a Product Development organization direct to consumer.
Experience with Black-box/Gray-box testing
Must have worked in positions which have site and product releases on a frequent basis (at least one per month)
Strong knowledge of smoke testing, regression testing, test case creation, and applying automation testing to improve the delivery of the team

It would be nice if you had a background in automated testing
A Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced degree in computer science or related discipline is helpful.
