Overview:
Steampunk is seeking a 508 Compliance Tester with an appetite for taking on new challenges.

You will support an active team that wants to be a part of maintaining and improving 508 Compliance and overall accessibility of a high traffic, high visibility site with a global audience. You’ll be responsible for supporting the team and our federal client in the advancement of the Section 508 compliance and accessibility and leverage your solid and strategic understanding of both the manual and automated accessibility testing available for Section 508. Be an agent of change on a team committed to achieving client-focused, mission-driven excellence.
Contributions:

Provide Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) for Section 508 compliance through testing and auditing
Provide Section 508 compliance testing and validation for applications, websites, surveys, forms, and documents residing on premise or in the Cloud (i.e., SaaS).
Use manual inspection techniques, assistive technologies and automated tools for 508 Compliance testing of Web and software products, including ability to periodically conduct assessments of large sets of websites for Section 508 Compliance. Client uses the Accessible Name and Description Inspector (ANDI), Web Accessibility Tool (WAT), and SiteImprove to perform 508 compliance testing, per DHS Trusted Tester guidelines.
Work with content owners, application teams, project managers, developers, and vendors in identifying and correcting Section 508 compliance defects.
Conduct Section 508 related outreach and communications.
Facilitate Section 508 training to include quarterly training on how to create 508 compliant documents (e.g., Word, PDF, PowerPoint, etc.) and compliant content.
Perform Section 508 program compliance metrics and reporting, actively work to sustain and improve outcomes.
Develop educational resources, such as white papers, tutorials, and presentations in support of outreach and training activities for the Enterprise.
Present information about accessibility topics in various settings including, but not limited to, small briefings, seminars, extemporaneous speaking, symposiums, hands-on training, one-on-one situations, etc.
Participate in planning sessions with clients and team members in order to ensure that planned work includes necessary compliance and accessibility standards where appropriate

Qualifications:
Required

Must be US Citizen
Ability to obtain a public trust
Active or prior DHS Trusted Tester Certification
3-5+ years of experience in 508 testing and compliance
Experience with Drupal or similar content management systems.
rate sharp, analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical staff

Preferred

Experience working compliance on large application with multiple business/content owners.
