Talkspace is looking for a talented and technical Accessibility Engineer that specializes in Web Content Accessibility. Come join our mission of getting therapy in the hands of everyone!


Please note: This is a contract position and does not require technical leadership or experience managing other engineers.


What You'll Do

Collaborate across technical pods to ensure our mobile and web applications meet WCAG 2.0 accessibility standards.
Work to fulfill our ongoing queue for accessibility requests.
Conduct audits and assessments of our digital products to identify accessibility barriers and recommend solutions.
Implement and maintain accessibility best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
Collaborate with designers and developers to translate designs into accessible web pages.
Test and validate the accessibility of our applications across multiple platforms and assistive technologies.
Stay up to date with the latest accessibility guidelines, standards, and industry trends.
Assist in educating and raising awareness among the development team about web content accessibility.


About You

Strong understanding of web accessibility principles, guidelines, and best practices, particularly WCAG 2.0.
Possess a WCAG 2.0 certification or relevant accessibility certifications.
Experience in web development, including HTML5, CSS3, React and JavaScript.
Knowledge of assistive technologies such as screen readers, magnifiers, and alternative input devices.
Familiarity with accessibility evaluation tools and techniques.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
Passionate about creating inclusive and accessible digital experiences.


Bonus Skills

Experience with ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) roles and attributes.
Knowledge of WAI-ARIA (Web Accessibility Initiative - Accessible Rich Internet Applications) specifications.
Familiarity with accessibility testing tools like aXe, Wave, or JAWS Inspect.
Understanding of mobile app accessibility guidelines (iOS and Android).
Experience with accessibility audits and remediation in telehealth or mental health platforms.

Compensation

At Talkspace, we believe that pay transparency during the interview process is a critical part of diversity, equity, and inclusion. The hourly rate is based on internal and external compensation benchmarks, which we regularly evaluate to ensure we pay competitively.

The hourly range for this role is between $75.00 and $100.00. Within the hourly rate, leveling corresponds to each candidate's relevant experience, skills as assessed during the interview process, education, and applicable certifications.
