**About the role**

As a Senior Frontend Platform Engineer on the Developer Platforms team, you will be at the intersection of UI consistency and architectural excellence, utilizing AI agents to enhance our frontend developer experience. You will contribute to evolving our Design System, optimizing our microfrontend architecture, and enabling product teams to ship high-quality features with speed and autonomy using AI workflows. You are a generalist who understands that a great UI component must be supported by performant and easy-to-use architecture.

**Responsibilities**

- Collaborate with designers and product managers to transform Figma prototypes into React/TypeScript components that are easy for product teams to adopt.
- Develop and maintain a scalable internal UI component library that adheres to company design guidelines.
- Own and operate AI agent workflows that speed up frontend platform delivery, including coding agents to automate tasks such as component scaffolding, design token generation, accessibility audits, and code migration.
- Optimize design system components for accessibility (WCAG), conduct annual accessibility evaluations, and assist teams with accessibility issues.
- Serve as a consulting engineer for product teams, helping architect complex features, debug performance issues, and provide best practice guidance.
- Build tools and utilities to improve developer experience and ensure deep integration of the Design System within product workflows.
- Monitor and optimize UI component performance, diagnosing bottlenecks and contributing to architectural improvements.
- Collaborate on frontend architecture improvements, particularly around microfrontend patterns (SingleSPA), ensuring smooth integration of the Design System.

**Qualifications**

- 5+ years of hands-on frontend development experience with strong skills in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Emotion, and modern CSS.
- Proven experience building and maintaining reusable UI component libraries or design systems.
- Expertise in web standards and accessibility best practices (WCAG 2.x).
- Deep understanding of responsive design, Flexbox, and CSS Grid.
- Proficiency with frontend build tools (Vite, Webpack, Yarn/npm) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Hands-on experience designing and operating AI coding agents and agentic workflows in frontend or platform contexts.
- Experience writing automated tests for UI components using Jest, React Testing Library, Vitest, Playwright, or Cypress.

**Non-Technical Competencies**

- Strong ownership and autonomy; comfortable making independent technical decisions aligned with broader goals.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, acting as a bridge between design and engineering.
- Advocate for Design System adoption, championing consistent UI and high-quality code through reviews, knowledge sharing, and tutorials.
- Detail-oriented with a quality-driven mindset.

**Preferred Experience**

- Knowledge of microfrontend patterns and architecture (SingleSPA, Module Federation).
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines such as CircleCI or Concourse.
- Understanding of DevOps and internal developer platform engineering.
- Knowledge of performance monitoring, observability, and developer experience metrics.
- Experience building self-service developer tools and Developer Portals like backstage.io.
- Exposure to AI design and coding tools.
