Leepfrog Technologies’ primary product is CourseLeaf, an academic operations platform that supports curriculum, catalog, scheduling, registration, and syllabi management. Over 500 colleges and universities and 5.5 million students are using CourseLeaf to thrive.
As a Web Accessibility Intern at Leepfrog you will play a pivotal role in our commitment to web accessibility and fostering a more inclusive web experience for all users. The ideal candidate will be passionate about web accessibility and eager to contribute to making the web more universally accessible. A successful Web Accessibility Intern will be able to both follow instructions when needed and have autonomy to work independently. To excel in this role, you will need to be motivated to learn and stay abreast of evolving accessibility trends, build positive and collaborative relationships, and champion the cause of creating an inclusive and user-friendly web experience for individuals with disabilities.
This internship presents a unique opportunity for a college student or recent graduate with an interest in web accessibility to gain valuable hands-on experience in a supportive and inclusive work environment.
Duties:
Research: Stay up-to-date with latest web accessibility trends, tools, and technologies; become an expert resource on Web Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and Section 508 Federal requirements.
Accessibility Evaluation and Testing: Assist in conducting accessibility evaluations using manual and automated testing methods, including use of screen readers.
Feedback and Remediation Support: Identify areas of improvement; provide and track remediation recommendations.
Documentation: Review and update Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs).
Awareness Building: Participate in training sessions and programs to promote web accessibility within the organization and to clients.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Skills:
Basic computer and web literacy with a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
Strong attention to detail and a passion for ensuring web content is accessible to all users.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Self-motivated, proactive, and eager to take on new challenges.
Interest in web accessibility and a commitment to making the web more inclusive for all users.
Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with others.
Familiarity with web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus but not required.
Qualifications:
Must be pursuing or just completed a degree program and have basic computer and web literacy. Confidentiality of proprietary information is a must. The ideal candidate must be able to operate in a complex ever evolving environment with the ability to adjust as needed. The ideal candidate will be encouraged to express ideas, suggestions, and contribute as part of the team.
Physical Requirements:
The Web Accessibility Intern will spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers. The Web Accessibility Intern may be located in a busy, open area office, and may be faced with regular interruptions.
