ACCESSIBILITY – SUMMER FOR THE CITY INTERN

The Accessibility – Summer for the City Intern will support the Lincoln Center Accessibility team's goal that performing arts spaces are inclusive of our audiences’ identities and access needs by design, not as an afterthought or add-on. As part of our wider commitment to accessibility and inclusion, we recognize that access needs must be integrated in the creative process, that the work on our stages reflects our differences and interconnectedness, and that we are creating a space where everyone feels welcome.
What you'll get to do here:
* On-site support for access workers atSummer for the City performances featuring ASL interpretation, closed/open captioning, audio description, pre-show touch tours, and other accommodations
* Support and staff community gatherings designed for various Deaf and disabled communities
* Provide public-facing performance support for guests with disabilities at a diverse range of performances and events
* Research and advance marketing and outreach efforts to publicize accessible events and to connect with audiences with disabilities
* Gather and analyze audience feedback after events
* Participate in coaching and training Access Ambassadors through the Summer Youth Employment Programby modeling and supporting the development of Guest Experience skills
* Communicate with audiences over phone and email, responding to general accessibility questions and sharing information about upcoming events
* Research and propose improvements and new possibilities in accommodations and creative access integrations
You’ll be a fit if you bring:
* An interest in learning about cultural accessibility, arts program design, and working with audiences with disabilities
* A passion for inclusion and advocacy in the performing arts
* Excitement in providing on-site support at performances
* Strong written, verbal and face-to-face communication skills and an interest in developing comfort communicating with diverse audiences and stakeholders
* Collaborative spirit, as well as the ability to work independently
* Availability to consistently work Wednesdays-Sundays, with evening availability
* A positive attitude and a willingness to work outdoors in summer weather
