The Colorado School of Mines is seeking an Assistant Director, DSS & Access Technology. This position will be responsible for overseeing the Disability Support Services (DSS) and Access Technology initiatives within the university. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with various departments to ensure equitable access and support for students with disabilities. Key responsibilities include managing the DSS office, developing and implementing access technology strategies, providing training and support to faculty and staff, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of disability services, assistive technologies, and higher education administration. The Assistant Director will also play a crucial role in fostering an inclusive and accessible campus environment.

**Responsibilities:**

* Lead and manage the operations of the Disability Support Services (DSS) office.
* Develop, implement, and maintain strategies for access technology across campus.
* Provide consultation and support to students, faculty, and staff regarding DSS and access technology.
* Oversee the accommodation process for students with disabilities.
* Stay current with best practices and emerging trends in disability services and access technology.
* Ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations (e.g., ADA, Section 504).
* Develop and deliver training programs on disability awareness and inclusive practices.
* Collaborate with IT services, instructional designers, and other university units.
* Manage budgets and resources for DSS and access technology initiatives.
* Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to accessibility.

**Qualifications:**

* Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Special Education, Disability Studies, Assistive Technology, or a related field.
* Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in disability support services or access technology in a higher education setting.
* Demonstrated knowledge of disability laws and regulations (ADA, Section 504).
* Experience with a variety of assistive and access technologies.
* Strong leadership, management, and supervisory skills.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
* Proven ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
* Experience in program development and implementation.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

* Doctoral degree.
* Experience in a university-level IT or technology support role.
* Certification in a relevant field (e.g., Assistive Technology Professional).
