The Accessibility Specialist works with administrators, faculty, and staff across all schools of the University to ensure access to classes, programs, and facilities for students with disabilities. This position interacts with students to review medical documentation and determine reasonable accommodations. Duties include meeting with students to understand access needs, collaborating with faculty to implement accommodations, maintaining confidential files, supporting alternative text acquisition and exam processes, and providing input on policies and assessment of services for students with disabilities. The role contributes to coaching student employees and promotes Universal Accessibility in teaching, programming, and design. Requires a Master's Degree in a related field or two years of related professional experience, experience in higher education, understanding of disability theory, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and knowledge of FERPA and HIPAA. Preferred qualifications include a Master's Degree in Counseling, Higher Education, or Special Education, experience with accommodations in graduate schools or healthcare settings, and knowledge of assistive technology and relevant software. This is a Restricted, Nonexempt, 40 hour per week position. Expected pay range is $27.88 - $29.80 per hour.
