About The RoleThe Accessibility Graphic Designer is a key member of the Corporate Innovations division, reporting to the Director of Content Visual Design. This full-time exempt position is remote, allowing candidates across the contiguous US to contribute to FranklinCovey’s mission by embedding inclusive, accessible practices within our design systems. The role involves auditing and enhancing UI components for accessibility compliance, advocating for inclusive design methodologies, and integrating accessibility considerations throughout the entire design process. The designer will collaborate cross-functionally with developers, UX writers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that accessibility is a foundational element of our products and services. This position offers an opportunity to influence organizational culture towards greater inclusivity and to develop and implement best practices that ensure our digital content is accessible to all users, including those with disabilities.
Qualifications
* 3+ years of experience in visual design, with a portfolio demonstrating accessible design work
* Deep knowledge of accessibility standards including WCAG 2.2 and PDF/UA (PDF/X-UA)
* Proficiency in industry-standard design tools such as Adobe InDesign, Acrobat Pro, Illustrator, and Figma
* Experience remediating and tagging PDFs for screen reader compatibility
* Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a collaborative environment
* Excellent attention to detail and proactive mindset
* Familiarity with localized content design workflows and tools
* Experience conducting accessibility audits and utilizing testing tools such as PAC 2021, Axe, NVDA, JAWS, or VoiceOver
* Strong communication and presentation skills for training and advocacy
Responsibilities
* Embed accessibility into design system components by auditing and enhancing existing UI elements to meet or exceed standards like WCAG, including improvements in color contrast, focus states, and keyboard navigation.
* Create clear, actionable documentation within the design system that guides teams on accessible design practices and rationale.
* Collaborate closely with developers, UX writers, and product managers to incorporate accessibility considerations from project inception through deployment.
* Advocate for inclusive design methodologies by promoting user diversity, leading training sessions, and fostering a culture of accessibility awareness.
* Facilitate early and continuous accessibility testing throughout the design process to identify and resolve issues proactively.
* Provide constructive feedback during design reviews focused on accessibility to scale knowledge and best practices across teams.
* Maintain and update the design system with current accessibility patterns, tools, and resources based on evolving standards and user feedback.
* Establish metrics and reporting processes to measure the impact of accessibility initiatives and communicate successes to stakeholders and leadership.
