Executive Staff Advisor
Commonwealth of Kentucky
Frankfort, KY,US
Here, your work doesn’t just inform — it elevates the programs that support Kentuckians every day. You’ll help shape the messages behind Kentucky’s most meaningful public initiatives, working at the center of a communications team that drives impact across the Commonwealth.
This is not a traditional state government Public Affairs office. We coordinate messaging and communications strategies for major Cabinet initiatives and smaller programs housed in Kentucky’s largest state agency. Our work spans issues from public and mental health to foster care, elder care, Medicaid, and much more.
We use a wide range of platforms to tell these stories — websites, professional video production, social media, paid advertising campaigns, conferences and summits, traditional articles, media relations, and stakeholder engagement. No two days look the same, and every project gives you the chance to make a real difference.
We are looking for an Executive Staff Advisor who will:
- Review, analyze, write and monitor webpage content from offices and agencies across the Cabinet for accuracy and conformity with policies and procedures regarding accessibility requirements, i.e., Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), 508 compliant and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
- Plan, create and administer trainings on web (internal and external) publishing, ADA and other requirements including curriculum, governance, IT standards, and social or digital media.
- Work independently or with graphic designers and project team members to develop the site concept, interface design and architecture of the web site.
- Make recommendations and assist with editing content.
- Provide final review of layout, graphics and content across Cabinet websites.
- Manage Google analytics to ensure web is reaching target audiences.
- Lead interface and connectivity design, development and implementation.
- Work with CHFS Subject Matter Experts, program staff and stakeholders.
- Provide final review of graphics, layout and clarity of graphical user interface (GUI) features.
- Contribute expertise in designing written and electronic materials for targeted audience.
We are looking for candidates with the following skills:
- Experience working with SharePoint.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and an ability to think creatively.
- A strong work ethic; able to work independently and also strive in team response situations.
- Competent computer skills including basic office suite and PowerPoint; video editing, print layout and design skills preferred.
If this opportunity sounds intriguing, we would love to hear from you!
