Accessibility Web Developer II – ArcGIS Enterprise

We are looking for a talented Accessibility Web Developer II to join our team and contribute to making our world-class geospatial software accessible to everyone. In this role, you will work closely with product teams, designers, and other developers to implement and advocate for accessibility best practices across our ArcGIS Enterprise product suite. You will play a key part in ensuring that our users, including those with disabilities, can effectively interact with and benefit from our powerful mapping and analytics capabilities.
Responsibilities:
* Design, develop, and maintain accessible web components and user interfaces for ArcGIS Enterprise products using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue).
* Implement ARIA patterns and ensure semantic HTML structure to support screen readers and other assistive technologies.
* Conduct accessibility testing using automated tools (e.g., axe, Lighthouse) and manual testing methods (e.g., keyboard navigation, screen reader testing).
* Collaborate with UX/UI designers to translate accessibility requirements into functional and visually appealing user experiences.
* Provide guidance and support to development teams on accessibility best practices, WCAG guidelines (e.g., WCAG 2.1 AA), and relevant standards.
* Troubleshoot and resolve accessibility issues identified during development or testing phases.
* Stay up-to-date with the latest accessibility trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements.
* Contribute to the development and maintenance of accessibility documentation and training materials.
* Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback on accessibility implementation.
* Advocate for accessibility as a core principle throughout the product development lifecycle.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
* 3+ years of professional experience in front-end web development, with a strong focus on accessibility.
* Proficiency in semantic HTML5, ARIA standards, and modern CSS for creating accessible user interfaces.
* Experience with JavaScript and at least one modern JavaScript framework (React, Angular, Vue).
* Familiarity with accessibility testing tools and methodologies, including screen readers (e.g., JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver).
* Understanding of WCAG 2.1 (or later) AA level compliance requirements.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively explain complex accessibility concepts.
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
