Disability Resources and Services is seeking an Accessibility Coordinator. The principal goal of this position is to work individually with students with disabilities to ensure equal access to the physical, educational and programmatic activities of the University of Pittsburgh. The Accessibility Coordinator meets regularly with students, provides case management, evaluates documentation to determine eligibility, determines reasonable accommodations, and disseminates information to the university community. The incumbent is a resource for responding to current and prospective students, staff and faculty.

Job Duties IncludeManage a dynamic and diverse caseload of University students with a range of disabilities and accommodation requirements. Engage in student meetings, maintain case notes, generate disability notifications, and maintain communication when needed.

Evaluate diagnostic information (i.e. medical, psychological, neuropsychological) to determine disability status, and identify reasonable accommodations. Consult with faculty and departments as appropriate regarding course requirements and essential standards when determining accommodations.

Disseminate important, accurate information to students and faculty regarding reasonable accommodations and the University's obligation to provide said accommodations, informally and through formal presentation.

Support department in planning and execution of programmatic events.

Essential FunctionsIn addition to above description, the position requires a high degree of cognitive skills which include judgment, interpretation, integrity, diplomacy, ability to learn and interpret and apply changes in the disability field.

Physical EffortDuties are primarily sedentary. Must be able to use a computer at a desk or similar workstation, and travel to on-campus meetings as needed.
