We are seeking an entry-level **Educational Image Alt-Text Writer** to support our curriculum team in creating high-quality, accessible content for learners across all grade levels and subject areas. This contract role plays a key part in ensuring our digital educational materials meet accessibility best practices and are inclusive for all learners.

**About the Role**

As an Alt-Text Writer, you will review curriculum assets and generate accurate, concise, and meaningful descriptions for a wide range of images—such as diagrams, charts, classroom scenes, historical photos, scientific illustrations, math visuals, and more. You will work closely with curriculum team members to ensure that each description enhances learner understanding while meeting accessibility guidelines.

This is a part-time contract position requiring a commitment of approximately **10 hours per week**.

**Responsibilities**

- Write clear, accurate, and context-appropriate alt text for images used across K–12 curriculum content.
- Collaborate with curriculum writers and editors to ensure alt text aligns with lesson goals and learning outcomes.
- Interpret educational visuals across all subject areas, including math, science, social studies, and ELA.
- Apply accessibility best practices to ensure content is inclusive for all learners.
- Maintain consistent formatting and tone according to internal style guidelines.
- Track work progress and manage assigned tasks within shared project tools and documents.

**Required Qualifications**

- Prior exposure to alt-text writing or accessibility standards (WCAG)
- Strong written communication skills with attention to clarity and detail.
- Familiarity with **Google Suite** (Docs, Drive, Sheets).
- Ability to learn and apply accessibility writing guidelines.
- Comfort working with images across a wide range of academic subjects and grade levels.
- Ability to commit to **10 hours per week** of contract work.
- Reliable, self-directed, and able to meet deadlines.

**Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)**

- Current or former k-12 educator
- 2+ years of alt text writing experience

Compensation begins at $25/hour.

No firms, please. We only hire individuals. Candidates are responsible for their own computers and software. All work created will be owned entirely by 240 Tutoring.
