Position Overview:

The Website Accessibility Specialist supports a large-scale initiative to ensure digital content meets modern accessibility standards and provides an inclusive experience for all users. This role focuses on converting existing website content into accessible formats, validating compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA standards, and improving the usability and accessibility of web resources.

Duties:

- Conduct a comprehensive inventory of existing website content to identify accessibility gaps and required updates.
- Convert documents and web pages from formats such as PDF and Word into accessible HTML and other web-friendly formats.
- Implement updates within the organization’s web content management system while adhering to approved templates, navigation structures, and branding standards.
- Apply accessibility best practices including semantic HTML markup, ARIA attributes, and responsive design techniques.
- Review and remediate PDF documents using Adobe Acrobat Pro to ensure accessibility compliance.
- Perform accessibility validation using approved automated tools and manual testing methods to verify WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to confirm the accuracy, completeness, and usability of updated website content.
- Document all content updates, remediation activities, and accessibility improvements.
- Provide recommendations and guidance for maintaining ongoing digital accessibility compliance across website content.
- Analyze project requirements and develop effective solutions to address accessibility and usability challenges.
- Apply strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills to meet project deadlines and deliver high-quality results.
- Communicate effectively with project stakeholders and team members throughout the remediation and implementation process.

Required Skills:

- Hands-on experience in web design, web development, and digital accessibility across multiple web platforms.
- Demonstrated expertise in web accessibility standards and best practices.
- Experience designing and implementing web content that complies with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards.
- Proficiency in the HTML programming language for developing and remediating accessible web content.
- Ability to provide examples of web design and development projects that demonstrate technical skills and practical implementation experience.

Preferred Skills:

- Experience working with HCL Web Content Manager (WCM) or similar enterprise web content management platforms.
