**BDR** is seeking a **Front-End Developer SME** to join our growing team! This position will be performed virtually from the individual’s home office working on EST time schedule. **This position requires US Citizenship with an active Public Trust.**

**Role Overview**
The Front-End Developer SME will serve as a technical authority on user interface design and implementation for the modernization initiative. This role will guide the development of intuitive, user-centered web interfaces that comply with government accessibility standards. The SME will provide expert-level input on front-end architecture, reusable component libraries, and best practices for responsive design and accessibility, while mentoring the development team and collaborating closely with UI/UX designers, back-end developers and stakeholders.
**Responsibilities**
- Serve as a technical authority on front-end architecture, frameworks, and accessibility compliance for IRS taxpayer-facing applications.
- Guide the design and development of responsive, accessible, and user-friendly web interfaces using React, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CS3.
- Ensure compliance with USWDS, ODG, and WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards, performing code reviews for adherence to federal design and accessibility requirements.
- Collaborate with product owners, designers, and back-end engineers to define technical approaches for delivering scalable, reusable UI components.
- Provide expertise on front-end performance optimization, API integration, and secure coding best practices.
- Support CI/CD integration for front-end deployments using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and automated testing tools.
- Mentor front-end developers by conducing code reviews, sharing best practices, and supporting skills development.
- Act as a liaison to ensure alignment between design, accessibility, and development teams during the Agile lifecycle.
**Required Minimum Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- Certification Required:
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust background investigation.
- Minimum Requirements: Favorable Tier 2 – Moderate Risk Public Trust (SF-85P) investigation.
- Elevated Eligibility: Tier 4 – High Risk Public Trust (SF-85P) investigation, if duties involve elevated system privileges, access to sensitive systems
- Staff-Like Access: Contractor personnel must receive a favorable suitability determination before being granted staff-like access to IRS information systems.
- CompTIA Sec+ (or equivalent DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification) (Required).
- AWS Certified Developer – Associate or AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate (Preferred).
- Certified Scrum Developer (CSD) or other Agile-related certification (Preferred).
- Certified Secure Software Library Professional (CSSLP) or equivalent security-focused credential (Preferred).
- AAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) or Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) (Preferred).
- Experience Required:
- 10+ years of experience as a front-end developer, with at least 7+ years in a senior or SME-level role on IT or government projects.
- Proven experience in Agile/Scrum environments delivering enterprise-scale web applications.
- Strong experience working with React, JavaScript frameworks, and cloud-hosted applications in
- AWS/Kubernetes environments.
- Deep expertise in Reach, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, and modern front-end development practices.
- Strong knowledge of federal design and accessibility standards, including USWDS, ODG, and WCAG 2.2 AA.
- Advanced skills in building scalable, reusable UI component libraries that meet accessibility and design guidelines.
- Skilled in front-end performance optimization, automated testing (Jest, Cypress, Selenium), and CI/CD workflows.
- Ability to architect front-end solutions and advise on technical decision-making for enterprise applications.
- Ability to mentor developers and lead code reviews, ensuring compliance with accessibility and security requirements.
In addition, **U.S Citizenship** is required.
