Job Description

The College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences (A&S) is seeking an Accessibility Lead to champion digital accessibility strategy and change management across one of UVA's largest and most academically diverse schools. This role will shape how thousands of students, faculty, staff, and the broader communities they serve experience accessible teaching, learning, and digital services. A&S has invested in accessibility tooling, data infrastructure, and institutional partnerships; this role will develop these foundations into a mature, sustainable program with broad impact across the University. Responsibilities include: - Digital Accessibility Implementation: Develop and implement strategies with partners to ensure digital accessibility across A&S platforms and services, provide consultation on accessible content development, and contribute to data analysis and documentation of accessibility efforts. - Change Management: Lead efforts to embed accessibility into A&S culture and workflows, collaborate to promote awareness, and design and deliver training programs. - Accessible Meetings, Events, and Platforms: Ensure accessibility of meetings and events, provide guidance on accessible event planning, and manage technology platforms supporting space accessibility. - Access-Driven Work Environment: Collaborate to identify and remove barriers, serve on committees related to accessibility, and stay current with trends and legislation. - Student Worker Management: Hire, train, and supervise student workers supporting accessibility initiatives. Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree - 5+ years of relevant professional experience Preferred Qualifications: - Advanced degree - Knowledge of VPATs - Technical knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript related to accessibility compliance - Strong understanding or ability to rapidly upskill in accessibility standards and testing tools Salary range: $80,000 - $90,000, commensurate with education and experience. This is a full-time, exempt-level, benefited position based in Charlottesville, VA, with hybrid work schedule eligibility (3 days on-site per week).
