## Position Description Pay Grade: Professional 4 The Accessibility Technologist provides accessibility guidance and support to faculty, ensuring that digital content used in learning environments is accessible to all students, including those with disabilities. This position collaborates with faculty to create inclusive educational experiences, develops and delivers training on accessibility best practices, and periodically audits courses to ensure compliance with accessibility standards. ## Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions) _To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the primary job functions herein described._ *Provides advice and support to faculty in the design of course materials, ensuring they meet accessibility standards *Researches, develops, markets, and conducts professional development opportunities for faculty on Title II regulations, accessibility best practices, and accessible design principles *Periodically reviews and audist courses in the Learning Management System (LMS) to ensure ongoing compliance with accessibility standards, and recommend improvements where necessary *Provides support and technical solutions for faculty and staff to support students with disabilities in the learning environment Collaborates and works closely with the Disability Support Services team to support students with accessing digital content Evaluates new requests for teaching and learning software, applications, and third party LMS integrations to ensure WCAG standards are adhered to Reviews accessibility related support requests and offers guidance to faculty through tickets, calls, and chat Provides training and support to Academic Technologies team to ensure consistent messaging and user support are provided ## Qualifications **Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:** Effectively communicate complex technical matters related to disabilities both verbally and in writing, and work comfortably with diverse populations Commitment to encouraging and participating in delivering an inclusive learning environment for all students Ability to work efficiently under time constraints; ability to multi-task/prioritize Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain accurate records Must possess excellent communication, technical, project management, organizational, and time management skills Proficient in instructional design principles, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and similar concepts **Requirements:** Bachelor's degree Experience with HTML and WCAG 2.0 accessibility standards Knowledge of how individuals with disabilities access utilize the internet and applications for learning Proficiency with Microsoft 365, internet browsers, and other widely adopted applications used in the learning environment Proficiency with Learning Management Systems, preferably Blackboard Must be able to work occasionally in the evening Valid Driver's license and approval required by the College’s liability insurance carrier **Preferences:** Master's degree in Instructional Design or related field Online teaching experience Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) certification Experience with screen readers, such as JAWS, to navigate digital content Experience captioning videos _**As an equal employment opportunity employer, Wake Tech values our workforce.
