ADA Specialist

Position Overview We are seeking an experienced ADA Specialist to lead accessibility compliance efforts across digital and physical environments. The ADA Specialist will assess, advise, and implement solutions to ensure our products, services, and facilities meet the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), WCAG 2.1, and other relevant accessibility standards. The role combines technical testing, policy development, stakeholder training, and remediation prioritization to create inclusive experiences for customers and employees. Key Responsibilities * Conduct accessibility audits of websites, mobile apps, documents, and physical facilities to identify barriers and noncompliance with ADA and WCAG 2.1 guidelines. * Develop clear remediation plans and work directly with product, design, development, and facilities teams to prioritize and implement fixes. * Perform manual and automated accessibility testing using assistive technologies (screen readers, voice control, keyboard navigation) and testing tools; document findings and verify remediation. * Translate legal and technical requirements into practical policies, standards, and best practices for design, development, content, and facilities teams. * Provide training, workshops, and guidance to cross-functional teams on ADA requirements, WCAG 2.1 success criteria, and accessible design and development techniques. * Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state accessibility laws, industry standards (WCAG), and emerging assistive technologies; advise leadership on compliance risk and strategy. * Support procurement and vendor management by reviewing vendor solutions and contracts for accessibility commitments and compliance. * Prepare clear reports and executive summaries outlining accessibility posture, remediation progress, and recommended investments or process changes. Qualifications * Bachelors degree in Disability Studies, Human-Computer Interaction, Information Technology, Law, or related field, or equivalent experience. * 3+ years of hands-on experience in accessibility auditing, testing, or remediation for digital products and/or built environments. * Demonstrated knowledge of ADA requirements and WCAG 2.1 (minimum AA); experience applying success criteria to real-world projects. * Experience with automated testing tools (e.g., Axe, WAVE), manual testing methods, and assistive technologies such as NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, and screen magnifiers. * Strong communication skills with experience writing policies, creating training materials, and presenting technical findings to non-technical stakeholders. * Proven ability to work cross-functionally and drive accessibility improvements within product development lifecycles. * Familiarity with accessibility-related procurement, vendor assessment, and legal compliance considerations. * Certification a plus (IAAP CPACC, WAS, or similar) and experience with accessibility in physical facilities or public accommodations.
