Job Category: Academic Staff Employment Type: Regular Job Profile: Assistive Technology Coordinator Job Summary: This position supports the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services area at the McBurney Disability Resource Center by providing technical support for communication access services on campus. Responsibilities include supporting live remote interpreting and captioning services, consulting with instructors on accessibility, managing media captioning and audio description workflows, coordinating technology solutions, and collaborating with students, faculty, and vendors. The role requires some evening and weekend hours to support campus events. Key Responsibilities: - Provide real-time technical support for live remote interpreting and captioning services. - Consult with instructors on accessibility and coordinate post-production media captioning and audio description. - Setup and maintain technology solutions for remote captioning and interpreting. - Track and monitor accommodation requests and related workflows. - Train students, staff, vendors, and faculty on technology related to interpreting and captioning. - Collaborate with campus partners and local IT to assess and support AV systems and event spaces. - Manage databases and processes related to captioning and interpreting requests. - Assist with Adaptive Technology services and alternative formats when needed. Required Qualifications: - Strong interest in application of technical skills related to disability access and accommodations. - Experience with hardware, software, and various operating systems. - Knowledge in information technology, instructional technology, web technology/design, or audio/video production. - Strong problem-solving and communication skills. - Ability to work independently and in a team. Preferred Qualifications: - Knowledge of deafness and accommodations for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. - Experience in higher education environments. - Knowledge of Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS systems. - Familiarity with federal and state disability access laws. - Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL). Education: Bachelor's Degree required by start date in a technology-related field or equivalent experience. Compensation: Starting salary $61,000 annually. Benefits included.
