Specialist – Document Accessibility (Part time Variable hours)

As a Document Accessibility Specialist, you will play an important role within the Accessibility team in making UVU Canvas courses accessible to all students.
Responsibilities will encompass supporting instructional design and support services staff by remediating documents to comply with accessibility guidelines (WCAG 2.1) including appropriate headings, alt text identifiers, bulleted lists, reading order, colors, fonts, and layout. Training will be provided. Additional Accessibility team responsibilities will include training and mentoring student Accessibility Assistants.


Required Qualifications

Graduation from high school or the equivalent. 1 yr experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Must be a self-starter in learning new software tools and finding solutions to problems.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of multiple computer systems, MS Office applications, Adobe Acrobat, and Canvas.
Knowledge and experience working with Distance Education helpful.
Skill in-office methods, techniques, practices, and procedures.
Must be detail-oriented and thorough while managing multiple projects.
Ability to review electronic files with attention to finite details.
Ability to meet and deal with people of diverse backgrounds.
Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and speaking.


Preferred Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate degree in a related field
OR any combination of education and experience in document remediation totaling 3 year(s).


Physical Requirements

Ability to sit for long periods of time. Fine hand manipulation is done continuously. Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.

Benefits Summary

You may be eligible for a 3 credit hour or 1 class tuition waiver after 6 consecutive months of employment and a minimum of 475 hours worked. Dependents do not qualify for a waiver.
