What You'll Do

The Senior Accessibility Engineer will be responsible for identifying and developing solutions for accessibility barriers based on the W3C WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards. This person also contributes to development efforts aimed at delivering our accessible Design System, and accessible applications on websites and mobile platforms.

This person should be knowledgeable in a variety of common digital accessibility barriers for people with hearing, physical, speech, cognitive, and vision disabilities. In addition, the Senior Accessibility Engineer will be familiar with the following methodologies: visual analysis, automated scans, screen reader testing, keyboard-only testing and browser plug-ins.

This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Manager, Engineering and is designated Flex.


Responsibility

Evaluate, test, and develop technical solutions for complex accessibility issues for web and mobile applications
Drive accessibility awareness across the multiple teams by building and conducting trainings for developers, designers and content authors
Contribute to the development, maintenance and improvement of our accessible Design System by working closely with developers to ensure all React components are accessible before consumption
Conduct accessibility reviews with internal teams according to accessibility guidelines
Interface with internal PMs, Devs, and Designers to communicate accessibility compliance requirements and potential solutions in technical and non-technical language
Address customer reported issues in a timely manner
Improve automated testing and discover automation opportunities to preemptively detect accessibility issues
Research latest accessibility advances and technologies



What You Bring


Basic

BA, BS or equivalent industry work experience in a software development organization
8+ years experience building and shipping SaaS applications
Working knowledge of JavaScript, CSS, HTML, React, ARIA
Experience testing with multiple assistive technologies such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver screen readers across multiple platforms (Windows, Mac,
Android and iOS devices)
Extensive knowledge of WCAG 2.1 guidelines and best practices
Strong communication, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills
Passionate about product quality, user experience, accessibility and disability inclusion
Experience implementing automated accessibility testing frameworks and best practices

Preferred

Certified IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) or Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS)
Curiosity and ability to learn new technologies and tool sets
Be an active member of the accessibility community
Experience with Dragon Naturally Speaking, Zoomtext, Color Contrast Analyzer, aXe

This role is eligible for bonus, equity and benefits.

Based on legislation in Colorado, the following details are for Colorado individuals only: Colorado pay range: $130,800 - $184,800 base salary

Based on legislation in New York City, the following details are for individuals who reside and would be working in New York City only: New York City pay range: $139,000 - $196,375 base salary

Based on legislation in Washington state the following details are for individuals who reside and would be working in Washington only: Washington pay range: $130,800 - $196,375 base salary

Based on legislation in California the following details are for individuals who reside and would be working in California only: California pay range: $139,000 - $226,850 base salary
