The web accessibility specialist is a member of a multi-disciplinary team that works to advance IT accessibility at the University of California Office of the President and across the university system. The specialist is responsible for testing sites, applications, surveys, and third-party products and services to ensure they are accessible to people with a broad range of disabilities. As an expert in IT accessibility, the specialist also consults with departmental staff to help them determine how to make their products and services accessible; participates on RFP committees for third-party products and services; and develops and delivers training in accessibility to departmental staff who create content, maintain websites, or develop applications. The specialist creates and maintains reports on web accessibility metrics at both the campus/location and systemwide levels to help measure improvement in web accessibility and gauge the effectiveness of activities. The specialist stays abreast of evolving best practices and standards in IT accessibility.
