Accessibility Specialist Intern

Our mission is to make WW “for everyone”. To accomplish this we’ve built accessibility into our rebranded colors and style guide, retooled how our design and engineer teams work to be more inclusive, included a more diverse group of people into our user experience research tests, and provided education on accessibility that includes presentations and demos, to name a few.

As WW continues to work to be an inclusive company which includes making our app and website accessible for everyone, we are in need of an intern who is passionate about accessibility.


Making our products accessible comes in at every step of our software development process, and the internship can focus on any or all of the steps. For example accessibility user experience researcher, inclusive designer, engineer (iOS or Android) -working to make the app and website work for low/no vision members, accessibility QA - exploring new ways to insure we've met the WCAG guidelines, or ADA advocate.

Key Responsibilities:

The intern will work with our WW accessibility expert and across teams to make our website and app for everyone. They will learn what it takes to make our products inclusive.

Depending on your interests, here a few examples of specific projects you may own:

Collecting observational data from user experience research.
Working with the design team on accessibility annotations.
Supporting the Quality Engineering team in evaluating our products with Assistive Technology
Developing Accessibility linting for web and/or mobile that could potentially be open-sourced
Working to bring in members with disabilities to educate our teams.
Promoting and educating on accessibility to our teams.
Helping engineers to build an exceptional accessible experience on our app or website.
Interacting with accessible communities and attending meetups.

Skills and Requirements:

Have knowledge of ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0.
Interested in and empathetic toward the range of people who benefit from inclusive design.
Open to working across different scrum teams and disciplines.
Knowledge working with Assistive Technology.
Must be attending an accredited university
Completed 3 or more courses in your major
Cumulative GPA in your major of 3.0 or higher
