With the chance to positively impact nearly 350,000 team members and 150 million guests you’ll be a strategic partner to both the leaders and team members who elevate and nurture Target’s accessibility strategy.

As the Director, Accessibility, you will be responsible for leading Target’s enterprise accessibility strategy.You will lead the team responsible for engaging, training and collaborating with partners throughout the enterprise. You will be responsible for managing existing programs as well as recommending new initiatives to ensure Target continues to be a leader in accessibility. You will manage a team of accessibility experts as they support the broader enterprise. Your expertise will ensure Target’s digital experiences are meeting the needs of a diverse guest and team member population.

You will manage, coach and support the development needs of twelve Accessibility team member.You are responsible to develop, drive, socialize, and continuously improve enterprise accessibility strategy in support of both guest facing and team member facing Information and Communication Technology (ICT).You will use internal and external knowledge to help the enterprise determine reputation risks and appropriate responses in ever changing accessibility landscape.You will represent the interests of and advocate for disabled guests and team members to all levels of the enterprise, requiring the ability to present in both small and large meetings.

Representing Target in the accessibility and disability communities, and maintaining our relationship with the National Federation of the Blind and similar organizations is an important aspect of your work.You will be the resident expert of evolving industry guidelines and digital standards and how they impact Target’s Digital Experiences.

You will need to foster an environment where there are clearly defined standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the usability of products with assistive technologies and where your team collaborates closely with product owners, designers, and engineers.

About you:

A minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience
A proven leader, with an ability to build and support a team of subject matter experts working in a consulting model.

Deep knowledge of WCAG 2.1 and Section 508, a good understanding of accessibility and usability for disabled people, and experience with devices and building accessible digital products.

Project management skills, and strong problem-solving skills.

Excellent and effective communication skills; ability to interact with stakeholders from all levels of a complex organization

Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders in situations where you do not have any direct authority.

Familiarity working with marketing, design and front end teams building web and mobile experiences

Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree preferred
