Located in Newton, MA, our mission empowers those who are blind and visually impaired to achieve independence and lead a fulfilling life. The Carroll Center serves people of ALL ages and ALL stages of vision loss. We offer itinerant services in the home, school, community, and workplace as well as campus-based programs in rehabilitation and technology.

We seek a dynamic, highly organized and detail-oriented Web Accessibility Specialist to join our team and collaborate with client’s and test their websites to determine accessibility barriers (based on Section 508 and WCAG 2.0 standards and guidelines), specifying how they impact users with disabilities, and offer remedial solutions.
Responsibilities

The candidate will oversee assigned digital accessibility projects from planning and design through implementation, concluding with project closeout. The primary function of the Web Accessibility Specialist position is to ensure all projects are completed on time within the financial parameters of the project, assigning individual responsibilities with the project team and tracking performance against assigned tasks as well as achieving the highest quality standards and outcomes. This position creates a robust project plan and defines the scope of work by synthesizing input from all involved. In addition, the candidate supervises independent contractors throughout the project and communicates necessary internal/external project status. Also, the Web Accessibility Specialist will provide logistical support for lead generation, sales and/or training presentations, and ensure document accuracy.
Qualifications

B.S. Degree in Business, Computer Science or Web Design required, and project management experience a must.
Proficient with Windows, Microsoft Office applications and associated project management software required, IAAP credentials a plus.
Excellent customer service, oral/written and time management skills essential.
Occasional travel within the New England area required.
Valid MA Driver’s License with good driving record necessary.
