Principal Accessibility Specialist (Remote Opportunity)

We are seeking a Principal Accessibility Specialist who has experience breaking down walls between design, engineering, and the business to ensure inclusion for all.  Hyatt is in the midst of a complete transformation in how digital products are brought to market, and this professional will play a pivotal role in ensuring accessibility is embedded in every step of Hyatt’s customer journey. This role will partner closely with leadership in engineering and product management, as well as data analytics, to elevate the global guest experience across Hyatt’s web and mobile products. 

Hyatt is seeking an accessibility expert who is highly familiar with requirements and processes needed to adhere to current and future WCAG 2.x/3.0 and all other applicable accessibility guidelines. If your passion is advocacy and you know how to guide product, developers, and designers toward intuitive accessible experiences, then we are interested in having you on our team. 

This professional must be skilled in bringing the humanity of accessibility to novice team members and capable of training to level up Hyatt’s maturity in inclusion. This role will be involved in setting strategy for accessibility training, auditing internal processes and procurement practices, working with UX research to include people with disabilities in testing and focus groups, and evangelizing accessibility embedment among strategic leaders.
Qualifications

Position Responsibilities / Essential Functions

Drive adoption of WCAG AA standards and any applicable government standards through Hyatt’s design system.
Lead planning and execution of accelerating accessibility compliance and usability across product teams.
Coordinate with 3rd parties to ensure secondary compliance and usability.
Coordinate auditing program to measure compliance and remediation needs.
Create training program to level up development, design, testing, and strategy on designing and developing for accessibility.
Provide tactical guidance to novice teams on remediations and screen reader testing
Create and maintain accessibility health measures.
Manages multiple projects simultaneously and supports the team’s design and tech backlog
Demonstrate a commitment to Hyatt core values

Experience

Strong emotional intelligence and deep empathy
Passionate about disability advocacy
13+ years in accessibility and advocacy
Experience with assistive technologies
Strong leadership and mentoring skills
5+ years in program management, project management
Detail-oriented with strong communication skills
Comfortable with public speaking and presenting

Education

Bachelor's Degree required

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

IAAP certification (CPACC, WAS, etc)
DHS Trusted Tester certification
PMP certification

Computer Skills Needed to Perform this Job

Design and research tools including Sketch, InVision, Adobe Creative Cloud, Mural, Axure, UserTesting and Zeplin
Microsoft Office, Jira, and Confluence
