Digital Media Accessib Spec I (Hybrid)
Create accessible digital media files and maintain database archives, including electronic text, captioned media, real-time captioning, transcription, MathML, or other digital media formats. This position will interact on a consistent basis with AMAC staff and management. This position typically will advise and counsel AMAC management. This position will supervise: NA
Job Duty 1 -
Perform digital media production procedures to create accessible media files for individuals with disabilities, including but not limited to order processing, course captioning, media preparation, quality control, and interacting with customers or vendors.
Job Duty 2 -
Create accessible media such as digital sounds, accessible e-text, webcast/video production techniques, and captioned media.
Job Duty 3 -
Train clients, new students, and/or other customers by providing demonstrations or other assistance.
Job Duty 4 -
Train other staff and student workers on procedures and related software.
Job Duty 5 -
Update databases and documentation on procedures.
Job Duty 6 -
Generate and maintain reports when requested by management,
Job Duty 7 -
Collect and analyze data on assigned research topics.
Job Duty 8 -
Communicate regularly with the team to troubleshoot and resolve order problems.
Job Duty 9 -
Perform other duties as assigned
Technical Diploma, Associate's Degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Up to two years of job-related experience
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with relevant accessibility standards (DCMP, ADA, W3C, WCAG) and various file formats, including Adobe PDF, Microsoft Word, and other publishing formats. Advanced computer skills may include video editing, CART captioning, or C-Print captioning, screen reading software (JAWS), Optical Character Recognition (ABBYY Finereader), or software programming (HTML, PHP) Experience using a database Experience volunteering or working in the disability community.
Preferred Educational Qualifications
One to two years of experience creating or manipulating digital media files (electronic text or video media) or performing real-time captioning; If working on specialized projects, preferred experience will be specified on the job posting.
Salary range: $24.31 - $28.69/hr
Job Grade: I3
All employment is ultimately contingent upon available funding and business needs.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Basic skills in digital media manipulation and customer service. Excellent organizational skills, verbal and written communication skills, and attention to detail. Ability to effectively troubleshoot daily issues/problems with minimal supervision.
